David Gate is an investment and trade specialist with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of capital, policy, and enterprise growth across Southern and Eastern Africa. His work focuses on connecting investors, governments, and private sector actors to unlock cross-border
investment and economic opportunities.

He serves as Head of Investment Mobilisation at SDI Promotion and separately advises global institutional investors on African investment strategy, capital markets development, and investment structuring. He previously served with the UK Government as Country Director for Trade and Investment under the Department for Business and Trade, based in Zimbabwe.

Earlier in his career, he worked in economic development, founded Luwami Analytics Africa, a technology and analytics firm, and held engineering roles in the telecommunications sector.

David holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and dual undergraduate degrees from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, all awarded cum laude.
