Are you a workaholic?

Section 1 : Recognising the signs

33%

Workaholism often starts with good intentions-a desire to succeed, meet goals, or support your team. However, when work becomes all-consuming, it's a red flag. Some signs of workaholism include working late into the night, constantly thinking about work and feeling uneasy or guilty when not working. You may also find yourself neglecting hobbies, social activities and even sleep to get more work done.

If you're skipping family dinners or social outings to complete tasks that could easily wait until the next day, it's a sign that work might be taking over your life. Similarly, if you feel a constant pressure to check emails or finish projects, even during your supposed downtime, it's time to reassess your work habits.

Ignoring these signs can lead to burnout, decreased productivity and strained relationships - outcomes that are the exact opposite of why many of us get into business in the first place. Recognising these symptoms early gives you the opportunity to make necessary adjustments, such as setting boundaries and prioritising self-care, to prevent work from taking over your life. Addressing the issue promptly, protects your well-being and enables you to maintain a healthier, more sustainable approach to both your work and personal life.
