Training vs. development

Section 1 : Why training alone isn’t enough

25%

Training teaches employees how to do their jobs. But what happens when the job changes? Markets shift, customer needs evolve and businesses grow. If your team is only trained for the current way of doing things, they’ll struggle to keep up when circumstances change.

For example, you can train someone to handle customer service calls. But if they’re not developed to think on their feet, solve problems independently, or communicate effectively, they’ll struggle with anything outside the script. Training is important, but it has limits. Development empowers your team to handle challenges even when there’s no clear playbook.

If you want employees who can think, grow and contribute beyond just following instructions, you need to invest in their development - not just their training.
