Dipono Visions: Climate-Smart Potato & Cassava Hub

Dipono Visions is a Soweto-based agribusiness founded by Magauta Lillian Lenong, a South African entrepreneur with a unique background in farming, healthcare, IT, and project management. Our enterprise was born in 2021 as a backyard potato farming initiative, which we later expanded to 1,000 sqm of communal land, supplying fresh potatoes to local fast-food shops in Soweto.

At the heart of Dipono Visions is the belief that God’s love and provision extend to all people, and that sustainable farming can be a pathway to food security, job creation, and community upliftment. Our core focus is potato farming, complemented by cassava and other crops for rotation, ensuring soil health and resilience against climate change.

We are developing a circular agro-processing model where every part of the harvest is used: potatoes are processed into gluten-free flour and starch, surplus and by-products are converted into animal feed and biogas energy, and a community bakery will transform our flour into affordable, nutritious bread for local households.

Beyond the commercial side, Dipono Visions also runs a Christian soup kitchen for the homeless and destitute in Soweto. As we grow, we plan to formalize this non-profit arm, offering training and inputs to women, youth, and second-chance learners, enabling them to become producers and business partners within our value chain.

Dipono Visions is more than a business — it is a movement for dignity, sustainability, and inclusive growth in South Africa and, ultimately, across Africa.
