The Project
addresses the persistent challenge of maternal and child health service gaps, especially in low- and middle-income countries, where many pregnant women and young children fail to receive timely care, vaccinations, and follow-ups. Inadequate access to health information, fragmented health records, and missed appointments for antenatal care or immunizations contribute to high rates of preventable deaths.
This innovation is unique in that it provides a lifespan continuum of care—tracking a woman’s pregnancy from conception through delivery, and then monitoring the child’s health and immunizations up to age five. Unlike typical apps that focus on either pregnancy or child health, Mum & Baby Care+ offers integrated, AI-supported health guidance, real-time alerts, digital health records, and offline/USSD functionality for underserved populations. It’s interoperable with national health systems like DHIS2 and tailored to local contexts.
The project is highly elaborated, with a working prototype, detailed system architecture, UI/UX mockups, and a clear business and scaling model, positioning it for wide adoption and measurable health impact.
