Project name: Ontyme farm enterprises – Kenya
Sector: Agriculture / Agribusiness / Horticulture
Business stage: Idea stage / Pre-start-up
Location: Nairobi area, Kenya
Project description:
The project aims to establish a commercial greenhouse farming enterprise in Kenya, initially focusing on cucumbers and culinary herbs for domestic and potential international markets. The business plans to lease suitable agricultural land and develop several greenhouses in phases, depending on funding, market demand and technical feasibility.
The enterprise will use controlled-environment farming practices, efficient water management and appropriate crop production methods to improve consistency, productivity and produce quality. Planned activities include identifying suitable land, conducting market research, establishing greenhouse infrastructure, sourcing quality inputs and developing relationships with produce buyers.
The long-term vision is to build a commercially sustainable horticultural enterprise that creates employment, supplies reliable quality produce and explores export opportunities as production capacity, food-safety compliance and buyer relationships develop.
