RETFARMER (Revolution Technology of Farmers)

RETFARMER (Revolution Technology of Farmer) is a social enterprise based in Burundi that empowers smallholder farmers to adapt to climate change using low-cost, AI-powered tools. Through mobile applications like Virtual Agro, Virtual Vet, and AgriPlanning, farmers can identify crop and livestock diseases, receive treatment advice, and access weather alerts and tailored farming calendars, even offline. RETFARMER reduces the need for expensive agronomists, making advanced agricultural knowledge accessible in remote areas. Since launching in 2024, RETFARMER has supported over 700 farmers and partnered with 12 cooperatives, winning the RAIN Challenge East Africa in 2024.
