Agriculture Challenges:

In the African context, particularly in Mozambique, food security is still a major challenge, stemming from two major agricultural challenges: one calls on entrepreneurs to distribute soil testing technology, seeds and high-quality fertilizers or bio-fertilizers to help farmers grow more crops, the other to distribute post-harvest loans and storage or agro-processing technology to help farmers process or store the harvest to sell later in the month or the year when prices rise. This is how the innovative idea emerged that aims to solve the root cause that ideia is called dotTerra Inc.

dotTerra Inc. is an AgriTech startup focused on revolutionizing agriculture through the development of smart soil sensors and personalized farming recommendations.

Our mission is to empower farmers globally to optimize resource usage, improve crop yields, and promote sustainable farming practices through real-time data collection and actionable insights.

Problem Statement: Farmers around the world, particularly in. Africa Mozambique, face challenges in efficiently managing soil health and maximizing crop yields. Excessive fertilizer use, inefficient water management, and lack of real-time data on soil conditions result in wasted resources, reduced yields, and environmental harm.

Why Now?
Growing Demand for Food:
Rising global population and food demand has driven the need for sustainable farming to address hunger and food deficits.

Rapid Surge in IoT Adoption in Farming:
The adoption of IoT technology in farming is on the rise, with multinational companies investing in smart farming and precision agriculture.

Widespread Internet Accessibility:
With over 70% of consumers in developing markets gaining access to affordable internet, dotTerra seizes the opportunity to provide farmers with seamless
access to IoT SaaS services.

Solution: dotTerra’s Smart Soil Sensor Kit provides real-time, localized soil and microclimate data, allowing farmers to make informed decisions about irrigation, fertilization, and other practices. Our system is low maintenance, easy to deploy, and provides tailored recommendations that directly address the challenges faced by modern farmers.

Market Opportunity: The global precision agriculture market is expected to reach $12.9 billion by 2027, driven by the need for increased food production, environmental sustainability, and optimized resource management.

Our initial focus is on medium to large-scale farms in the African Continent in particular Mozambique, with potential to expand into other regions.

Our platform guides farmers in making informed decisions at every stage of the farming process. Whether it’s irrigation scheduling, fertilisation practices, or crop selection, dotTerra ensures that farmers have the right information and tools to maximize their productivity.
