How do you react to feedback

Section 2 : About seeking feedback

66%

Great leaders seek feedback from colleagues as well as from vendors, customers and even from individuals in other industries that you trust and admire.  Leaders support their organizational mission and vision completely and are committed to the belief that there is always a measure of improvement with the addition of feedback from others.

Have you ever seen someone with food stuck between their teeth? Everyone sees it, but the person with the embarrassing food in their teeth is completely unaware. Leaders develop ways to continually seek feedback thereby avoiding being caught unaware.  No egos should be bruised here and leaders seeking feedback need to assure those they’ve asked that there will be no retaliation and the only expectation is honest, candid feedback.

So, how do you get honest feedback? Ask “I’m always trying to improve, is there something I can be doing better or differently?” Try their suggestions and if it doesn’t work, pivot.  Ask the right people, the right questions and interpret their answers maturely, wisely and accurately.
