Victor Tagborloh, CEO at Galaxy ITGroup, wants to lead Ghana to Space by 2030

Tell us about how you got started.

I completed my master’s degree in computing in the United Kingdom, Scotland. I then realized that there was huge potential in Ghana and the younger generation can meet its needs through nurturing in STEM education. That is how I got started.

What makes your company unique?

It is the brand, the employees, the culture, the innovative approach, our mission, vision statement, and we are the first privately registered aerospace in Ghana. I owe much of our company’s work to my employees. They are the brain behind where the company is moving towards. 

No business is without setbacks, can you tell us about a time when you faced a significant setback and how you recovered from it?

We have faced difficulties in finding funds and investors because at the moment I am funding the company myself, which is a challenging situation.

How do you define success and to what do you attribute your success?

I do not believe in success; I believe in failure. Success and failure at the same. You need to fail more to be experienced and to see success.

What's next for your business, what will it look like in 5 years?

My Aerospace company seeks to be a hub in this West Africa sub-region, to explore Space in the future, and also serve as a centre for students in West Africa, for learning and training in aeronautics.

What do you think the future holds for Africa-focused entrepreneurs and advice do you have for entrepreneurs who are just starting out?

I always say Africa is a developing continent and the younger generation has no excuse to fail at being entrepreneurs because we have the opportunity to learn from the developed world to make our continent a business hub and much better.

Owning a business while balancing a personal life can be challenging; how do you take care of yourself?

I am a very well-organized person and time means so much to me. I can balance my personal life and business.

What is your favorite quote or mantra?  What keeps you going?

The empires of the future are the empires of the minds - Winston Churchill. What keeps me going is my passion for STEM education. I envision an African generation that will lead the world in Technology. 

What is your favorite app or a business tool that you can't live without

Hmm… Dropbox is paramount to my business, in managing the company's information and files wherever I am.
