AfCFTA and cross-border trade logistics

Section 3 : Understand both regional and national rules

75%

Compliance in one country is no guarantee of compliance in another. Every region has its own standards, its own way of interpreting the rules and its own enforcement culture. If you are expanding across Africa, you need to think beyond national boundaries. What does alignment look like in your sector? What certifications or practices are recognised across multiple countries? Are there platforms or associations that help standardise requirements or fast-track regional clearance?

The more you learn to think at a regional level, the fewer surprises you will find at the border. You need to stop treating every new country as an entirely new risk. Start building trade relationships that stretch across several markets, based on the common ground you understand between them. When you know what rules overlap and where processes are similar, you can plan better, move faster and avoid starting from zero each time.
