AfCFTA and cross-border trade logistics

Section 4 : Make AfCFTA practical for your business

100%

AfCFTA is a challenge for us to think bigger. If it remains something only policymakers talk about, the gap between potential and practice will keep growing. Entrepreneurs need to be part of the shift. We cannot keep waiting for better systems. We need to learn how the current ones work and start holding decision-makers accountable when they do not.

If you are trading across borders, you are already part of that shift. Every successful delivery, every delay you manage to work through, every time you choose to follow the right process instead of taking shortcuts, contributes to making AfCFTA work. It’s actions like these that will bring the agreement to life and make it work for all our businesses.

To make AfCFTA practical for your business, start with understanding how the systems around you affect your bottom line. Use what’s already in place to your advantage. Know which trade routes are faster, which documents are often flagged and who to speak to when something stalls. Keep learning how to move through the gaps so that your business not only survives regional trade but grows through it.
