Networking for introverts

Section 3 : Leveraging preparation and follow-up

100%

Walking into a room cold can feel overwhelming, especially for introverts. When you don’t know what to expect or who to approach, the experience can become even more intimidating. Instead, set yourself up for success by preparing in advance. Research attendees, topics, or the event agenda. Knowing who you want to connect with and having an idea of what to discuss can reduce anxiety and provide a solid starting point. You don’t have to improvise - just a few prepared talking points can make interactions feel smoother and more natural.

Send a personalised message that references a key part of your conversation, highlighting something you learned or a point that stood out to you. This attention to detail shows sincerity and keeps the connection alive without requiring you to expend more energy in person.
