Most onboarding focuses on the tasks. Here’s the system, here’s the process, here’s your target. But a huge part of thriving at work is knowing who you can count on to support you when you need it, who to ask when something’s unclear, who works closely with your role and who’s just good to know.
If you want someone to settle in quickly, don’t just give them tools. Give them people. Make space for real introductions and connections. Let them shadow, sit in, listen and ask. Point out the quiet go-to person who always saves the day. Introduce them to the one who’s great at explaining things. Help them learn the hidden map most people had to figure out on their own.
