Of course not everything needs to be registered, but the things that are unique to your business? Those are a good place to start. Think of your product design, your brand name, the way you’ve packaged an idea or developed a tool. Anything that didn’t exist this exact way before you worked on it is worth looking at twice.
And it doesn’t have to be something complicated to meet the requirements for registration. If you’re unsure what applies, write down what you’d be frustrated to lose. Or what you’d feel uncomfortable seeing on someone else’s flyer or website. That will usually give you a short list of things you may need to protect.
