Trust is a critical element of leadership
Consider the people that have had the biggest positive influence on your life. What did those relationships have in common? It’s almost certain that you trusted them implicitly.
In order to lead effectively, it’s crucial that you cultivate an atmosphere of trust among your employees. This means being honest to a fault. If you make a mistake, own up to it. If an employee isn’t performing up to snuff, let them know. Don’t be afraid to have difficult conversations. As long as you’re honest, these talks can offer huge opportunities for growth.
It’s also important to remember that trust goes both ways. Let your staff take risks. Encourage them to push the limits of their abilities. When you trust your employees to get the job done their way, they’ll often surprise you, and themselves.
