Respecting employee privacy

Section 2 : The impact of respecting privacy

66%

A lack of privacy in the workplace can feel suffocating, making employees feel monitored and distrusted. This constant surveillance can lead to stress, anxiety and even a fear of taking breaks or handling personal matters. For instance, an employee may hesitate to visit a doctor during working hours if they feel their every move is under scrutiny. However, when privacy is respected, employees feel empowered and can better focus on their work, knowing their leaders trust them to manage their responsibilities.

Respecting privacy also plays a big role in retaining talent. Right now, remote working has become common, it’s important not to blur boundaries further by demanding access to an employee's home or personal habits. Entrepreneurs who respect boundaries earn respect in return, creating a culture where people feel appreciated and are more likely to go the extra mile.
