A lean business still requires effort, clarity, focus and commitment. Being lean has never meant that you do the bare minimum and hope people understand. It also doesn’t mean you never spend a cent or never take a risk. The things you do in your business just have to be thought-through.
If you’ve been saying “we’re bootstrapping” for three years but you haven’t updated your pricing, improved your customer journey, or taken any steps to scale, that is not being lean. That, is just avoidance. Your business doesn’t need to scale fast. But it does need to be active and that means eventually, you have to move.
