Building your brand name with social media

Section 2 : Understand your brand

40%

It’s critical before starting any branding effort to codify what your brand is, what you want it to mean to people, and how it identifies itself.

It can help to think about your brand as if it were a person. What does your brand believe in? What’s important to it? What sorts of people are likely to be interested in it? If it were to speak, what would it say? Is it witty and sarcastic, dry and informative, or fun and positive?

This exercise establishes your brand identity and your brand voice. These are facets of your brand personality, and it’s important to lock them down so that you know how to express your brand when you start interacting on social media. Deciding all of this ahead of time makes it much simpler to remain consistent in your brand expression.
