One of the biggest traps entrepreneurs fall into is thinking that assigning something to someone else clears it from their conscience. It doesn’t. You might not be the one writing the code, designing the branding, or replying to the emails, but you are the one who said yes to how it would be done. And if something goes wrong, “I didn’t do it” is not a strategy.
The truth is, responsibility stays with the decision-maker. The moment you agree to let something be handled by someone else, you are not removed. You are still part of the process. You still have to check in, course-correct and follow through. You are still the one people look to when things go sideways.
You do not have to hover over every detail, but you cannot disappear either. Clear communication, follow-ups and context matter. When people you work with know that you are present and paying attention, things move more smoothly. And when you do need to step in, it does not come as a surprise.
