Learn how to pitch to investors

Our speaker, Cecilia Sewera, is the Founder and Managing Director of G&C Chemicals, a company that manufactures and sells both household and industrial detergents. She holds an Honours Degree in Marketing from the National University of Science and Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Nottingham Trent University in the UK.

With over 20 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, Cecilia began her career at Dairibord Zimbabwe, working in sales and marketing roles across different countries in the region. She later joined a start-up company in the beverages sector, where she played a key role in growing the business and expanding into regional markets. This experience gave her the confidence to launch her own company in 2017.

Under her leadership, G&C Chemicals has steadily expanded its customer base, supplying retailers, wholesalers, and institutions. The company received a $25,000 grant from the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) through the Business Accelerator Program facilitated by the U.S. Embassy in Zimbabwe. Currently employing 10 people, the business continues to grow with plans to increase staff, supply major retail outlets, and enter regional markets.

When you attend ELISA CONFABS you receive:

  • 1 hour of virtual learning on the most important topics in entrepreneurialism
  • the opportunity to ask questions directly to the CONFAB speaker
  • networking opportunities with attendees from all over the world
  • business development and visibility

Confabs are free events open to the entire ELISA portal community, which includes high potential entrepreneurs and founders with bold ideas for solving the greatest challenges we face in Africa. Attendees also include industry executives, investors, venture capitalists, philanthropists, researchers, educators, government regulators, policy makers, founders and entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.

During the confab, an inspirational speaker or thought leader provides remarks for 10-minutes focusing on their professional journey, particularly as it relates to entrepreneurism in Africa. This is followed by randomly assigned small group virtual breakout sessions where attendees connect with others, discuss bootstrap briefs and gain recognition for their business, project or idea.

The mission of ELISA is to create jobs and support entrepreneurship in Africa. ELISA members and sponsors discover new opportunities for innovation, connect with others who share the mission, and grow professionally.
